At the Turin-based architecture studio Carlo Ratti Associati, I worked as Assistant Executive Curator for the Shenzhen–Hong Kong Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture, alongside my role as Communications Associate.
My responsibilities
Background
At CRA - Carlo Ratti Associati, I worked across two roles: Assistant Executive Curator for the 2019 Shenzhen/Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture, and Communications Associate. For the Biennale, I coordinated communication with more than 60 architecture and design practices from around the world and managed the exhibition website, including a digital archive that made the submitted projects accessible to a wider audience.
Insight
Working on such a large international exhibition taught me a lot about managing stakeholders across different countries, time zones and cultures. With over 60 exhibitors worldwide, a Chinese-Italian curatorial team, and constantly evolving requirements, I learned to navigate complex situations diplomatically, solve problems quickly and keep multiple timelines moving in parallel.
Execution
I managed day-to-day communication and coordination with exhibitors, supported the delivery of their exhibition content and oversaw the website throughout the project. As Communications Associate, I subsequently supported the Head of Communications with PR activities, newsletters, editorial content and social media for CRA and its sister company Makr Shakr.
